An Opinion On “Peggy Noonan: Republicans Return to Reality”
Sorry my previous post was a little confusing. A cut and paste error as I was running out the door.
For all those people who think we can help the Afghans, the way we were helped by the French, you should consider a few things.
If the Afghans don’t want the kind of freedom and democracy we are offering, and instead prefer their religious, male centric, society, why would you think we can job change their minds?
If they have no concept of a centralized democracy but instead prefer the local war lord society they are used to, what makes you think we can change their minds?
As I said before, sometimes people don’t want what you are offering, even if you think they should. How many lives and how many dollars are you willing to spend trying to convince them to change if they don’t really want to change?
